What does Spin Defender help my player practice?
Spin Defender is an app-controlled hockey trainer for stickhandling, puck protection and reaction drills. Its moving sticks give players an obstacle to work around while they practice keeping control of the puck. It can be used at home or on the ice.
Do we need more than one defender?
One is enough to start individual stickhandling practice. Choose two when you want more obstacles and routes through a drill. Three suit coaches building several training stations. You can start with one and add more later.
Do I need to buy an app or a separate remote?
The Potent Spins app is free for iPhone and Android. You will need a compatible phone to start, stop and change the speed of the defender. This model uses the app, so a separate remote is not included.
How is Spin Defender powered?
Spin Defender is rechargeable and charges from a wall outlet.
Can my player use it at home?
Yes, on a smooth, flat hockey training surface or synthetic ice, such as our Potent Skateable Ice Tiles. Leave enough clear space for the sticks to rotate and the player to move around the defender. Spin Defender also works on real ice.
How would a coach use several defenders?
Set up more obstacles within a stickhandling drill or use the defenders at separate practice stations. The Potent Spins app lets a coach control two or more defenders from one phone.
Is it right for my child’s age?
Spin Defender is recommended for players aged 8 and up. Start at the slower speed and choose drills that suit your player’s current puck-control skills. Move to the faster speed when they are ready for more of a challenge.
